HP's VP of Global Marketing Strategy & Excellence Eric Kintz writes in his superb blog:
A Google search on Marketing Excellence ranked my blog #8 out of 72 million sites! A decent start after 4 weeks.... I now need the collective wisdom of the blogosphere to educate me on other search techniques to climb to #1.....
The post has insights on why he has made it to the top so fast and asks to keep helping him get to #1. It is great to see another client-side marketer in this space. As you can see from Constantin's NewPR Wiki, there are not a large number of corporate advertisers active in this space.
First, I think most of the reason why 'Marketing Excellence' is #6 on the list is due to Hp.com getting such high traffic. I noticed that after I started a MySpace page, and started blogging for Daily Fix, that both those entries shot to the top of a Google search for 'Mack Collier', because both MySpace and Marketing Profs get such a high volume of traffic.
As for Eric, I have been pleasantly suprised at the lengths he has gone to in order to join the blogging community. He is talking with other bloggers not only on his HP blog, but he's going out and FINDING them on THEIR blogs, and talking to them there.
That's something that ALL bloggers at ALL levels could learn from Eric: The importance of leaving your own blog and joining the community. I say well-done to Eric!

I thought I'd offer blog "search engine optimization" (SEO) help for both this blog and Eric's.
I have studied the Search Marketing Industry since about 1997, and Lee Odden of "Online Marketing Blog" knows SEO and blogging. He has a great post called "Link Building for Blogs":
